Our BEST Ergonomic Advice for Your Shoulder Pain

Do your shoulders or neck ever hurt after a day in the office?

Pains can easily happen when we stay in one position (like sitting) for a long time – and many of us spend more than seven hours a day doing just that!

While you may not be able to modify how long you sit we can help with HOW you sit to help with your shoulder or neck pain.

Watch the video below where Dr. Rob explains the one thing you might not have thought was causing your pain!

What Dr. Rob is describing is “Mouse Shoulder”, an increasingly common repetitive strain injury seen in office workers caused by mousing without arm support.

It may not seem like you’re straining your muscles clicking and dragging all day, but over time the muscles get tired and have to recruit more muscles to hold up your arm for 7 hours a day.

Mouse Shoulder can develop slowly over a long period of time and can present as symptoms like:

  • Pain in one shoulder (that uses a mouse)
  • Tightness and pain in your upper back and shoulder blades
  • Pain that extends down the arms into the hands
  • Numbness or tingling in your fingers and hands
  • Burning or stiffness in your shoulder or arms
  • Pain in your wrist
  • Muscle spasms
  • Loss of strength in the hands
  • Headaches

Even if you don’t have any of these symptoms, check out your work station and see what your elbow is doing all day and how you can improve your desk posture. If your chair lacks an armrest or you don’t have a keyboard tray there are some handy arm rests you can get on Amazon that clamp right on to your desk!
